Awake My Soul to the Cries of the Fallen

cross with blood

Dear Readers, as another Easter celebration is upon us, I’m reminded of the seriousness of our problems in this world. The spiritual battle of good vs evil is nothing new. It’s been going on since the Garden of Eden. But something very different is happening. The enemy has stepped up his strategy. He has extended his war of deception and evil beyond the minds of men to nations and people groups around the world. Listen with your soul. Do you hear the cries of the fallen? Cries for light in a very dark world?

It’s ludicrous that thousands of people could possibly believe the lies they are fed. Who in their right mind would follow a god who hates and kills those who don’t believe as they do? A god who rewards suicide and murder? How irrational! It makes no sense.

The truth is they are not in their right mind. There’s a name for the enemy’s strategy. It’s called deception. Why do you suppose evil is gaining so much ground? Why does evil seem to be overpowering good? Could it be that deception has infiltrated both sides?

It’s the difference between light and darkness, God’s truth and man’s lies. God’s truth is plain and simple. It’s easy to understand, easy to embrace. That is if we’re willing to go to the source and believe.

There’s nothing original with the enemy. Even his lies are born from truth. Do not lies come from rejecting the truth? The purpose of deception is to wage war against truth. And the goal of the enemy is to win.

How depressing! Who wants to be depressed at Easter? Isn’t Easter all about cute bunnies, good food and fun games? Not really! Easter is about truth, God’s truth. In the end, God’s truth will win the war between light and darkness. But what about now? Is there a solution for today’s mounting problems? Yes. The solution is for more and more people to embrace the source of truth, as well as the ramifications and consequences of the gospel.

Can anyone say they have a more reliable, proven source of truth than God’s Word? I don’t think so. So believers, reflect and revel in the following. And skeptics, consider the following:

  • The truth of the gospel: The meaning of the word gospel is the good news and it’s meant for all people from all nations. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 NLT
  • The gift of the gospel: “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NLT
  • The fairness of the gospel: “God sent his Son into the world, not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:17 NLT
  • The judgment of the gospel: “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.John 3:18-19 NLT
  • The light of the gospel: “All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.” John 3:20-21 NLT
  • The mercy of the gospel: “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 5:8 NLT
  • The joy of the gospel: “So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends with God.” Romans 5:11 NLT
  • The hope of the gospel: “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” Romans 5:5

God’s word is very clear on the essence of truth vs. deception and light vs. darkness. The question remains: What shall we do with God’s truth and the light He has given us?

awake

Will you receive this poem from my heart to yours as we vow together to awaken our sleeping souls to the cries of the fallen? And as we vow together to act upon and share the truth to those in need. But most important, to pray for our country and for the world, beginning with ourselves. II Chronicles 7:14
