The Triple Threat/Blessing

dark world

Imagine living in a world without love. No such thing as compassion or altruism. A world full of fathers with no mercy. A universe of mothers with no tenderness. A planet of children out of control. Relationships with no trust. Mankind with no boundaries.

Do you see what I see? A society crippled by ruthlessness, confusion and chaos. Without love, there would be no inner peace for the human heart. Nor would there be resources to become more than a conglomeration of flesh and bones.

Where do inner strength and character qualities come from? Do they evolve from a blob of jelly fish? Or any other man-made theory? You don’t believe that and neither do I. Any semblance of love, forgiveness and power in our world is living proof the God who created us is alive and well.

We know this because God IS love and all good things come from Him. (I John 4:16; James 1:17) The presence of evil and discontent among mankind is evidence of our need to connect with our Creator. Without Him, there is no hope for a better life. Without Him, we’re like hamsters frantically spinning our wheels, exercising our futility and calling it progress.

Genesis 1:1 tells us how it all began. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” The Hebrew word for God in the context of creation is Elohim, a plural word. Genesis 1:26 adds, “Let us make man in our image . . . .”

On our behalf, our Creator presents Himself as a triple blessing. God, the Father is our source of love. God, the Son is our source of forgiveness. And God, the Holy Spirit is our source of power. Also on our behalf, God presents Himself as a triple threat to impending evil and deception in our world.

One God, manifested in three persons. Creator of all that is good. Protector and sustainer of the universe. Author of faith, hope and redemption. All on our behalf.

No mere man could make this stuff up. Another proof, it’s true!

*After a month off, I’m so glad to be back on your grid. By the way, has the Triple Threat/Blessing recently protected you in a special way? Perhaps you’ve been touched by His healing balm of forgiveness. Or, I’m wondering if His power has enabled you to do something you could have never done on your own. I’ve done all the talking, my friend. Now, it’s your turn!

Let's talk

  1. YAY, you’re BACK! Hope you had a good sabbatical, Liz. I’m in a spot now where I need His power to come upon me in a mighty way. Would you pray for me as I start re-writing my Bible study?

  2. Mary Beth says:

Welcome back, Mom. Missed those special times with you and the Lord. 🙂
