Focus, Courage, Wisdom, Surrender – CRUMBS for The Key to Overcoming SADD

Focusing

Focusing on God: “With God in control of our mind’s eye, we see how each day’s activities can bless the world and represent Him. We notice small things that others miss and we will remember key ideas, names, places and facts that God will use to glorify His name.” Mindy Hirst

                                                       Courage

“Courage is a decision you make to act in a way that works through your own fear for the greater good as opposed to pure self-interest. Courage means putting at risk your immediate self-interest for what you believe is right.”
Derrick A. Bell, Ethical Ambition: Living a Life of Meaning and Worth

                                                                                                                          wisdom

Earthly wisdom is doing what comes naturally. Godly wisdom is doing what the Holy Spirit compels us to do.Charles Stanley

potter making a pot

“You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, ‘He did not make me?’ Can the pot say of the potter, ‘He knows nothing?’” Isaiah 29:16

                                                   Creation of man

“Yet God allows both individuals and nations to cooperate with Him as He molds and shapes fallen men and women. While the clay is still pliable and wet, the Great Potter’s desire is to make a work of beauty and utility out of that which is otherwise marred, flawed, and unsuited for His use.” Lambert Dolphin

looking to God       The pious soul that eyes only God . . . can have no stop in its progress; light and darkness equally assist him. In the light he looks up to God. In the darkness he lays hold of God, and so they both do him the same good.William Law A Serious Call to a Devout and Holy Life,

Here is an update on Paul Johnson, who had emergency surgery in Poland tonight:

Sue said the two-hour surgery for a ruptured appendix went well. They have an English-speaking doctor and are grateful for that. Paul has to stay in the hospital for 7 to 10 days, and Sue will stay with him. Please continue to pray for Paul–he is at high risk for an infection.

    Thank you.
