Crumbs – Why Do We Need the Holy Spirit?

“Through the centuries, men have displayed many different symbols to show that they are Christians. They have worn marks in the lapels of their coats, hung chains about their necks, even had special haircuts. . .There is a much better sign. . . a universal mark that is to last through all the ages of the church until Jesus comes back. . .” Francis A. Schaeffer  The Mark of the Christian

According to Dr. Schaeffer, the mark of a Christian is: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)

“The mark of a Christian is not how well he is doing, but how he is doing when he’s not doing well.” Dr. John Hanna

“When we accept the fact that Jesus died in our stead, God finds the evidence He needs to pronounce us innocent. In certain situations, the Hebrew judge appointed an advocate to assist him in defending the accused. The Jewish Encyclopedia states that the husband could represent his wife and help the judge defend her if the verdict involved his personal rights. Here we have a glorious parallel with the heavenly judgment: Christ the Bridegroom purchased His bride with His own blood.”  Professor Walter J. Veith, PhD

“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”                            II Timothy 4:7-8

“Every day can be an exciting adventure for the Christian who knows the reality of being filled with the Holy Spirit and who lives constantly, moment by moment, under His gracious direction.” For details, google Have You Made the Wonderful Discovery of the Spirit-Filled Life?        by Dr. Bill Bright
