Crumbs – How to be Perfect When You Know You’re Not

“Actually, I can’t imagine anything more tedious than a perfect person, especially if it was someone who also demanded perfection from me.” Hugh Mackay

I never make the mistake of arguing with people for whose opinions I have no respect.
Edward Gibbon

I heard the following illustration years ago. It certainly makes me think. How about you?

Someone asked an equestrian sculptor how she did her work. The sculptor replied, “I just chip away everything that doesn’t look like a horse.” God is the Master Sculptor. How does He create His holiness in us? He chips away everything that doesn’t look like Jesus.

“For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son . . . .” Romans 8:29

“A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.”  Antoine de Saint-Exupery

“It is a great deal better to live a holy life than to talk about it. Lighthouses do not ring bells and fire cannon to call attention to their shining – they just shine.” Dwight L. Moody

“. . . let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

“How little people know who think that holiness is dull. When one meets the real thing it is irresistible.” C. S. Lewis
