Oswald Chambers says in My Utmost for His Highest, “The voice of the Spirit of God is as gentle as a summer breeze—so gentle that unless you are living in complete fellowship and oneness with God, you will never hear it. The sense of warning and restraint that the Spirit gives comes to us in the most amazingly gentle ways. And if you are not sensitive enough to detect His voice, you will quench it, and your spiritual life will be impaired. . . . “  (I Kings 19:12)

Five Steps to Walking Consistently with God (ELW)  from Hebrews 12:

Step One: Fix your eyes upon One who gives and grows your faith. (v.2-3)

Step Two: Resist sin and entanglements on a moment-by-moment basis. (v. 1&4)

Step Three: Be encouraged that you are your Heavenly Father’s child. (v. 5-6)

Step Four: Expect, endure and be trained by your Father’s discipline. (v. 7-10)

Step Five: Reap the harvest of righteousness and peace. (v. 11)
