Crumbs – Positive Faith Dresses for Battle

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” I Peter 5:6-7

“The meaning is, that we are to commit our whole cause to him. If we suffer heavy trials; if we lose our friends, health, or property; if we have arduous and responsible duties to perform; if we feel that we have no strength, and are in danger of being crushed by what is laid upon us, we may go and cast all upon the Lord; that is, we may look to him for grace and strength, and feel assured that he will enable us to sustain all that is laid upon us . . . .” Barnes’ Notes on the Bible

“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” I Peter 5:8

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7

“I often laugh at Satan, and there is nothing that makes him so angry as when I attack him to his face, and tell him that through God I am more than a match for him” Martin Luther

“Therefore, put on the whole armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13

“In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Ephesians 6:16

According to Ephesians 4:26-27, unresolved anger gives the devil a foothold in our lives. Webster defines a foothold as a position providing a base for advancement.  Where can we go to release our anger, frustrations, and fears? The presence of God is the one place where the enemy cannot form a base for advancement against us. How then do we stand our ground? We step into God’s presence, put on the armor of God and defend ourselves with His Word.
