Age-Defying Crumbs

On my 40th birthday, I discovered the following verse.  It’s become an ongoing reminder as I face the relentless challenges of aging.  Elizabeth Welsh

“For (she) will not often consider the years of (her) life. Because God keeps (her) occupied with the gladness of (her) heart.”  Ecclesiastes 5:20 NASB

When I was a child, my mother used to say to me, “If you want to be a nice old lady, you need to learn how to be a nice young lady.”  Elizabeth Welsh

When men reach their sixties and retire they go to pieces. Women just go right on cooking.

True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.   Kurt Vonnegut

For age is opportunity no less
Than youth itself, though in another dress,
And as the evening twilight fades away,
The sky is filled with stars invisible by day.
– Henry Wadsworth Longfellow “Morituri Salutamus” 1875
